Mr. Ryo Minami
Director General for International Policy on Carbon Neutrality at the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI)
Mr. Ryo Minami studied at the University of Tokyo (1990) and made his degree at the Law School of the University of Texas (1998). He joined the MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) in April 1990. From June 1998 until June 2000, he was Deputy Director at the Business Promotion Division for Small and Medium Enterprise Agency at the MITI. In June 2000 until June 2002, he took the position as Deputy Director at the Export Division in the International Trade Administration Bureau at the reorganized Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI). From June, 2002 to June, 2005 he was Director at the Business Promotion Group, Underwriting Department at the Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI). In June 2005 until June 2007 he was Deputy Director at the Policy Coordination Division for Small and Medium Enterprise Agency, METI and starting June Chief Representative at the New York Office of NIXI for 3 years. He took over different Director positions at Agency for Natural Resources and Energy at METI such as at International Affairs Division (August 2010 – December 2012), at the Oil and Gas Division (December 2012 – July 2015), Europe and Russia, Trade Policy Bureau (July 2015 – July 2018), Director for Carbon Recycling Policy and as a Director-General at Natural Resources and Fuel Department (July 2018 –July 2021). Since July 2021 he to on his current position as Deputy Commissioner for International Affairs and Director General for International Policy on Carbon Neutrality at the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy at METI.
