Ms Yuri Okubo
Senior Researcher, Renewable Energy Institute (REI)
She has joined the Renewable Energy Institute as Climate Change Policy Advisor to develop and implement the Institute’s strategy to accelerate energy transformation from the climate policy perspectives. Her current research focuses on global and domestic coal business policies and trends. She also takes the lead for joint studies with international organizations and work on strategies of the management of the Japan Climate Initiative.
Before working for REI, she worked for the Foundation myclimate to set up its Japanese company affiliation and support the global network. Previously, she joined research projects at the Department of Political Science of the University of Zurich where she was engaged in projects on climate and sustainable finance which were funded by the European Parliament, the German Federal Environment Agency and UK organizations. She also worked for an environmental NGO and managed lecture seminars for schools and the public in Japan. She obtained a master’s degree in International Relations at Kobe City University of Foreign Studies.
