Ms. Keiko Segawa

Deputy Director General, Global Environment Bureau, Ministry of the Environment (MoEJ), Japan

Ms. Keiko SEGAWA was appointed Deputy Director-General for Global Environment Affairs, Ministry of the Environment, Japan in July 2019. She oversees international operations on climate change in the Ministry of the Environment, and leads negotiations on climate change and environmental issues in multilateral forum such as the G7, and the G20.

Ms. SEGAWA joined the Environment Agency (now Ministry of the Environment) in 1989. She worked on various issues in both domestic and international contexts. She held important duties in a variety of environmental fields including climate change, waste and chemical management, environment pollution control, and EIA. She also served in management positions, supporting ministers in their public relations and human resource management duties.
