Mr. Saito was appointed as Chairman of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) in April 2023. He joined Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (currently IHI) in 1975 and worked in the technical field of the aerospace business. He served as IHI’s Representative Director and President in 2012, its Representative Director and Chairman in 2016, and as an advisor in 2020. His experience in major organizations includes acting as Vice Chairman of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of the Japan Industrial Machinery Manufacturers Association, Vice Chairman of the Japan Machinery Federation, Chairman of the Japan Shipbuilding Manufacturers Association, Chairman of the Fukushima Innovation Coast Initiative Promotion Organization, and Chairman of the International Human Resources Cooperation Agency. He is a special advisor to the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vice Chairman of the ASEAN-Japan Economic Council. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, The University of Tokyo in 1975.
